Does anyone really understand SEO as behind the 200+ signals there are over 10,000 sub-signals…
Probably not, not even Google as SEO has become somewhat of an evolving process and a law unto itself.
Search Engine Land has recently revised their excellent periodic table of SEO success factors that provide the SEO dos and donts for success.
Here’s how to get an understanding of the SEO dos and donts from the Table of SEO Success Factors…
Let me explain
We have on-the-page SEO, off-the-page SEO, violations and a numbering system
1. On-the-page SEO
Content (C) – quality content remains King and still a major driver of SEO. Is the article of substantial quality and what people are searching for.
HTML (H) – are the technical elements that create your web articles using keywords, headlines, tags with relevant meta descriptions.
Architecture (A) – does the construction of your website suit search engines crawlers when they visit your site with well placed keywords. Is your website mobile responsive and loads quickly.
2. Off-the-page SEO
– what I call search engine marketing (SEM)
Links (L) – How many of the links are from quality and trusted websites.
Trust (T) – has your website gained the authority that people trust through the quality of its content over a period of time – years not weeks.
Social (S) – is your information shared widely on social networks.
Personal (P) – the ways personal search impact on your SEO via location and over a period of time.
3. Violations (V)
Violations have a negative effect on your SEO and hence your ranking.
Violations can be avoided with original quality content that is provided from a creditable trusted website which does not get involved in spammy practices.
4. The numbering system
– top right hand corner of each box.
Uses a + for positive or – for negative also the number of 1 to 3 for the weighting of the particular category, 3 being the highest weighting.
Summarising SEO dos and donts for success.
For your best success apply all the elements from this table.
The stand out still remains the on-the-page SEO elements and in particular quality content still remains the King of SEO.
Off-the-page SEO (SEM) is gaining real traction especially as mobile phones gain greater use through search and the sharing of information. So for the future, the growth of social media will continue changing the dynamics of SEO (SEM).
I thank Search Engine Land for providing this valuable information free to the industry.
Few people in the industry really understand the best and latest SEO practices, but we do…
